MOSCOW April 23. 2024 (Saba) - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said today that the losses of Ukrainian forces since the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine amounted to half a million soldiers.

"As a result of the recent active hostilities, Russian military personnel have taken control of the Pervomaisko, Bogdanovka and Fomikhelovka regions of the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine," Shoigu said at a meeting of army leaders, noting that the control zone is currently being expanded in the Berdichi and Georgievka regions.

Since the start of the special operation, Russian air defense systems have shot down more than 22,000 drones, more than 860 aircraft and helicopters, about 6,000 launcher shells, about a thousand missiles and 37 balloons, he said.
