TAIZ April 24. 2024 (Saba) - The Acting Governor of Taiz, Ahmed Amin Al-Massawi, inaugurated on Wednesday the work of the project to expand and rehabilitate the sewage networks line in Al-Hawban area at a total cost of $ 739.
The three-thousand-300-meter-long and 500-meter-long project, funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Yemen, is inaugurated.
At the inauguration, Al-Massawi stressed the local authority's interest in service projects in the province in translation of the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the political council in implementing projects that serve citizens and are in their interest.
He pointed to the importance of water projects and the rehabilitation and expansion of the main sewage network line extending from the Al-Hawban area, to the Al-Jaheem station on Al-Arbaeen Street, which had been damaged and damaged as a result of the aggression during the past nine years.
For his part, the director of the local establishment for water and sanitation in the governorate, Mohammed Ibrahim, explained that the rehabilitation and expansion project of the network will serve approximately 145,000 people and will work to address the problems resulting from the wear and tear of old networks and the recurrence of the worsening malfunctions in the revival and areas of Al-Hawban.
He pointed out that the project comes within a package of water and sanitation projects being implemented in the Al-Hawban area of New Taiz, praising the continuous efforts and support by the leadership of the Ministry of Water and Environment and the local authority in the governorate.
