BRUSSELS April 28. 2024 (Saba) - Several non-governmental organizations on Sunday criticized the "suppression" of voices in support of the Palestinian cause in Europe following the cancellation of events and prosecutions against intellectuals and activists.
According to Sama News Agency, Amnesty International researcher Julia Hall said that “laws on hate speech and counter-terrorism are being used to attack" pro-Palestinian voices.
Hall said Europe had seen "a flood of evictions and targeted peaceful demonstrators, academics, and anyone who is primarily in solidarity with the human rights of Palestinians or criticizes the occupation."
In the European Union, at least 12 countries have taken "unequal measures," including banning demonstrations on the basis of a perceived threat to "public safety" and "security," according to a report by the Brussels-based European Civic Forum.
This "suppression of solidarity with the Palestinians" is due to the "massive support" that Europe provides to the Zionist enemy authorities linked to the Jewish Holocaust, according to Artie Narsi of the European Civic Forum.
