SANA'A April 28. 2024 (Saba) - The University Student Forum in Yemeni universities condemned in the strongest terms the arrests of foreign, European and Arab university students who went out in sit-ins and demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine, and in condemnation of the crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people.
"We are aware of the just position taken by students in foreign, European and Arab universities, and their quest to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and their rejection of the violence and occupation practiced by the enemy entity against them and defend human rights and justice," said a statement issued by the forum, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).
"We, the Yemeni university students, declare our full solidarity with the detained students, who represent living consciences at this time and express their sound will to achieve justice," It said, calling these arbitrary arrests a flagrant violation of human rights, freedom of expression and the right of peoples to demonstrate peacefully.
The statement pointed out that the international community and concerned parties must intervene to protect the rights of students and ensure their freedom and safety and their right to express solidarity with just causes, including the Palestinian cause, without being persecuted and punished.
It strongly condemned the brutal crimes committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people. "We witness with great sadness the escalation of violence, occupation and gross violations of human rights in Palestine, including attacks on innocent lives, forced displacement and the blockade imposed on Gaza."
The University Student Forum stressed that these crimes have nothing to do with any concept of justice or humanity, and require collective and broad action, pointing to the need to understand the value of struggle and solidarity and for everyone to learn the importance of pride, dignity and justice for vulnerable and oppressed peoples and to advocate for them in all available ways and means.
The statement reiterated the continued solidarity with the Palestinian people and support for their resistance against the usurping occupier and devoid of human values, stressing the need to unite efforts to strengthen Arab and international solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle, and their firm will and strong determination that will triumph in the end.
