NEW YORK May 02. 2024 (Saba) - More than 20,000 people have participated in a massive demonstration that marched through the streets of New York City, reaching the Columbia University campus.

The move came in protesting the dispersal by the city police of a student sit-in inside the university campus, demanding an immediate cessation of Zionist aggression in the Gaza Strip.

Participants raised the Palestinian flag and chanted slogans condemning the police crackdown on students at many American universities and the arrest of hundreds of them for defending Palestinian rights.

The demonstrators announced that the arrest campaigns at American universities would not halt student activism until divestment from the Zionist entity and the cessation of academic cooperation with Zionist educational institutions involved in the genocide in Gaza.

In the same context, student sit-ins continue within tents at several American universities as part of a youth movement across the United States to pressure decision-makers to take swift action to stop the genocide in Gaza.
