OTTAWA May 02. 2024 (Saba) - A judge in a Quebec county in Canada has rejected a request for a court order to remove protesters supporting the Palestinian cause who are holding a sit-in at McGill University, as the activists' sit-in entered its fifth day.
The decision comes after a lawyer representing "two students" from the university asked the judge to issue an order to establish a "restricted area" preventing five pro-Palestinian groups from protesting within 100 meters of each building on the downtown McGill University campus for 10 days.
The activists demanding an end to the genocidal actions committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip set up their tents on the university campus last Saturday and called on both McGill and Concordia universities to withdraw their investments from funds associated with Israel.
This follows a wave of similar protests at universities across the United States rejecting the war waged by the Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip.
