LONDON May 2. 2024 (Saba) -Universities in Britain have joined the global student movement in support of Palestine and in protest of the war waged by the Zionist enemy on Gaza Strip about seven months ago.
According to British media, in parallel with the expansion of student protests in the United States, students at the universities of Newcastle, Bristol, Warwick, Leeds, Sheffield, and Sheffield Hallam began organizing events that include protests and erecting tents inside and around university buildings.
Students and employees at British universities expressed their support for their counterparts in other countries by gathering in open areas and setting up tents inside their universities, calling on their university administrations to end cooperation with companies that supply the occupation with weapons.
Activists were posted on social media clips for a protest organized by students at the University of Cambridge in Britain to demand their corporation’s management to withdraw its investments and stop its cooperation with the entity.
At Newcastle University, evening gatherings were announced, while students camped at the University of Bristol to protest against the administration, which they accused of "complicity in the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinians."
On the other hand, the “Sheffield Campus Alliance for Palestine” group - which includes employees, students and graduates of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam Universities - set up a tent in solidarity with Palestine.
