BAGHDAD May 2. 2024 (Saba) - Iraqi security arrested 16 terrorists and thwarted the formation of a terrorist cell in Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Anbar in the north and west of the country.
The Iraqi News Agency “INA” quoted the Iraqi National Security Service as saying in a statement today: “Based on accurate intelligence information, our detachments in Kirkuk Governorate were able to arrest a prominent member of the terrorist organization ISIS.”
The statement explained that the agency's detachments were able to thwart the formation of a terrorist cell and arrest its members, consisting of four people, pointing out that they confessed during the investigation to the existence of a secret hideout for them, inside which a number of light and medium weapons, various equipment, and explosive manufacturing materials were found.
Security detachments in Nineveh, Anbar, and Kirkuk governorates were able to arrest 15 terrorists against whom judicial arrest warrants were issued, and they were referred to the competent legal authorities to take the necessary measures against them.
The General Directorate of Intelligence and Security in Iraq announced the arrest of a terrorist in Kirkuk Governorate yesterday.
