SANA'A May 04. 2024 (Saba) - The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expects continued thunderstorms in several governorates, active winds blowing east and central of the Gulf of Aden and around the Socotra Archipelago, and hot weather in the coastal plains and desert areas during the day during the next 24 hours.
According to the weather forecast issued by the centre, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), it is expected that thunderstorms of varying intensity will continue in various areas of the governorates of Socotra, Al-Mahra, Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Al-Bayda, Abyan, Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Al-Dhalea, Al-Jawf and Ma'rib.
Light to moderate rain is likely to fall in parts of the governorates of Sanaa, Amran, Saada, Raymah, Al Mahwit, Hajjah, Dhamar and Aden.
According to the bulletin, active winds are also expected in the east and center of the Gulf of Aden and around the Socotra Archipelago, and hot weather in the coastal plains and desert areas during the day.
It explained that the amount of rain that fell during the past 24 hours and was measured in some weather monitoring stations amounted to 37 mm in Socotra, Al-Mahra - Sarfit: 8.9, Al-Dhalea: 6.2, Sayun: 2.0, Lahj-Tur Al-Baha: 0.5 mm.
Rains of varying intensity fell on the governorates of Al-Bayda, Abyan, Amran, Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, west of Shabwa, and south of Ma’rib, and were outside the range of monitoring stations.
The Center warned citizens in areas where rain is expected to occur against the flow of torrents into reefs and valleys and the risk of crossing them or being in their streams and from thunderstorms.
It also warned of the decline in horizontal visibility on mountain roads due to rainfall, fog formation, or water mulch, and of the hot weather in desert areas and coastal plains.
The Center warned of high waves east and center of the Gulf of Aden and around the Socotra Archipelago.
