GENEVA May 04. 2024 (Saba) - Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, confirmed that “a Zionist military attack on Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip may lead to a bloodbath,” calling at the same time for a ceasefire.
Ghebreyesus said Friday on the “X” platform, “The World Health Organization is deeply concerned that a large-scale military operation in Rafah, Gaza, may lead to a bloodbath and further weaken the already damaged health system.”
The spokesman for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Jens Laerke, said: “The attack on Rafah, in addition to the human losses, will be a strong blow to humanitarian operations throughout the Gaza Strip because Rafah crossing is located at the heart of humanitarian operations.”
