RAMALLAH May 04. 2024 (Saba) - The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that the Gaza Strip is witnessing an unprecedented global health catastrophe, as a result of the Zionist aggression that has continued for seven months.
In a statement issued today, Saturday, the Ministry called on the international community and international health and humanitarian organizations to intensify pressure on the enemy authorities to stop the aggression and save the lives of millions of citizens who were displaced from their houses to escape death and deliberate Zionist targeting.
Health Ministry warned of genocide that may occur if the enemy carries out its aggressive threats to invade Rafah Governorate, where there are more than one million two hundred thousand citizens, who have taken refuge there to escape the bombing, and only three hospitals are partially functioning, and it is witnessing a lack of public health, water, food and means of transportation health prevention.
As a result of the aggression, 496 health personnel were martyred, the enemy authorities arrested 309 personnel, and more than 1,500 were injured. The aggression also led to the destruction of the main treatment centers to which cases were referred from hospitals and other provinces.
The ministry added, "The Zionist aggression caused the collapse of the health system in Gaza Strip, deprived the sick , wounded of receiving the necessary treatment, led to the death of many of them due to the lack of equipment, medicines, medical supplies, food, the limited number of staff, and the spread of diseases, preventing them from receiving treatment outside the Gaza Strip."
The statement added, "The bed occupancy rate reached about 250% in a number of hospitals that remained partially operational, and health personnel are suffering today from a heavy burden due to the large number of patients and wounded."
As the Zionist aggression entered the seventh month continuously, the number of martyrs in Gaza Strip reached more than 34,650 martyrs, about 78 thousand were injured, while the number of missing people exceeded ten thousand.
