TEHRAN, May 10, 2024 (Saba) - The commencement of the second round of elections for the twelfth session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly took place on Friday across 15 provinces in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As reported by the Tasnim International News Agency, Iran's Election Commission issued a statement declaring the conclusion of candidate propaganda campaigns for the second round of elections at eight o'clock on Thursday morning.
In this phase of the electoral process, 90 candidates are vying for 45 parliamentary seats. The country's election commission has stipulated that voting will continue until 18:00, with the possibility of extension if deemed necessary by the Minister of the Interior.
The initial elections for the twelfth session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran were conducted on March 1, 2024, resulting in the entry of 245 candidates into the assembly. The fate of the remaining 45 seats will be determined in today's second round of elections.
Representatives will be chosen to join the parliament from 22 constituencies, including Tabriz, Shebster, Miana, and Parsabad, Semiram, Linjan, Karaj, Tehran, Ramin, Birjand, Mashhad, Abadan, Ramhormoz, Khodabandeh, Zanjan, Shiraz, Marvudasht, Khorramabad, Qaimshahr, Malayr, Kermanshah, and Gonbad Kavous.
It is noteworthy that the elections in the districts of Tabriz, Tehran, Abadan, Shiraz, Kermanshah, Khorramabad, Qaimshahr and Malayer are held entirely electronically.
