GAZA May 10. 2024 (Saba) - Incorrect airdrops of assistance have claimed 21 lives, chief of Gaza information office said Thursday, as the recent delivery left two civilians killed in the besieged Strip.
One of the parachutes landed on a warehouse, leading its zinc roof to fall onto crowed people waiting for relief, Salama Maroof added in remarks carried by the Palestinian media center, noting that two civilians died and four others suffered moderate wounds.
In their attempt to collect assistance, 12 people drowned in see, 8 others were killed as their crowd rushed pell-mell, and one was shot dead by Israeli troops, he recalled.
While they provide no effective solution for food insecurity, assistance airdrops pose fatal risk to the life of people, Maroof warned, as 30% of such assistance landed in sea or areas denied access by occupier.
