TEXAS April 25. 2024 (Saba) -Hundreds of students in Austin City, Texas, staged a protest outside a local jail to call for the release of more than 50 people detained at previous pro-Palestine protests hosted by a university.
Student protests further intensified after the US approved a package of new assistance for Israel, local media reported, as the beginning was in the Austin-based Texas University where security forces arrived to disperse the protest.
It is a farce, a protestor told Novosti. "We're here to stand by our friends and the relatives of detainees."
54 people were taken to prison, Lawyer George Loeb said, as footage on social media filmed the arrest of students opposing their country's policies backing the Israeli assault in Gaza.
