SANA'A January 25. 2023 (Saba) - His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, Head of the Supreme Political Council, was briefed today, Wednesday, on the archaeological monuments in the ancient Sana'a city, which date back to the first Islamic century.
President Al-Mashat inspected the conditions of citizens in old Sana'a, and visited Al-Halaqa market.
President Al-Mashat stressed the importance of restoring the market because of its faith significance, and its name goes back to the gathering of Yemeni people around Imam Ali, peace be upon him, who arrived as an envoy of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, to old Sana’a. Upon them was the message of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, so they all embraced Islam.
The President visited the Imam Ali Mosque, peace be upon him, in Old Sana’a, which is an important Islamic landmark, whose construction dates back to the era of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, when Imam Ali, peace be upon him, directed the construction of the mosque and turned its qiblah towards Thin Mountain.
President Al-Mashat pointed out the importance of preserving the ancient mosque and its symbolism.
He also visited Al-kabeer Mosque in old Sana'a city and inspected the restoration and maintenance work in the mosque, which is considered a lofty Islamic castle.
President Al-Mashat made it clear that the visit coincides with the beginning of the month of Rajab, in which the people of Yemen celebrate the Friday of Rajab - the memory of their entry into the religion of God in droves.
He expressed his congratulations to the Yemeni people on this occasion, which is considered a great feast for God's guidance of the Yemenis to Islam at the hands of the guardian of the best of people.
He said, "This occasion is the biggest feast for the Yemenis and a station for strengthening and embodying the faith identity."
President Al-Mashat pointed out that the history of the Yemenis is rooted in the depths of Muhammadan Islam, which, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, described them with the greatest description, and Imam Ali, peace be upon him, wrote about them the best words.
He touched on the historical status occupied by the ancient monuments of Sana'a, and the religious importance they represent in embodying the faith identity, stressing the need to pay attention to and preserve archaeological monuments.
