SANA'A July 22. 2023 (Saba) - The leadership of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party in Yemen on Saturday condemned in the strongest terms the increasing crimes of burning copies of the Noble Quran in Sweden, Denmark and some Western countries under an official cover.
In a statement, the party denounced the Swedish authorities' granting official licenses to extremists to publicly burn copies of the Holy Quran, which represents disrespect and underestimation of the feelings of Muslims around the world and a flagrant violation of freedom of belief and religious sanctities.
This heinous crime, which is committed systematically and prepared in advance, was considered a flagrant attack against Islam and Muslims, the consequences of which are borne by the Swedish authorities, which grant official licenses to commit these heinous crimes, feed extremist ideas and spread the spirit of hatred and hostility between peoples and nations, the statement added.
The statement stressed that the recurrence of these crimes requires the Arab and Islamic peoples to be aware, feel responsible, and express their rejection, indignation, and denunciation of these crimes by all possible means.
The statement called on Arab and Islamic governments to assume moral and religious responsibility, and to move officially and urgently to put pressure on the Swedish government to deter it from continuing to sponsor religious and intellectual extremism and feeding sectarian, religious and civilized hatred and grudges in the world.
It also called on the United Nations and the countries of the world to issue a special and binding charter to respect the sanctities and religious beliefs of all peoples of the world in order to cut off the path to feeding feelings of hatred and extremism and to dry up the sources of terrorism.
