TAIZ March 20. 2024 (Saba) - Taiz governorate witnessing rapid transformations and achievements in various service and development fields in accordance with a thoughtful civilizational visions that aims to accommodate the requirements of the present and deal with the challenges of the future, and meet the aspirations of society to alleviate its suffering imposed by the nature of the current circumstances.

There are clear imprints everyone experiences due to the ongoing work that is taking place at a high pace and the governmental determination that confirms the governorate’s leadership’s keenness to bring about the desired change, enhance comprehensive and sustainable development efforts, and consolidate the infrastructure in New Taiz.

Citizens and visitors to Taiz feel today that it has turned into a broad development workshop in various fields, in the road sector, a project is being implemented to build 75 streets in various neighborhoods and areas of the New Taiz region, valued at about fifty million riyals, with funding from the local authority.

Projects in this sector include the rehabilitation of the eastern entrance - Al-Shaab City until the Aden Roundabout, at a value of more than one billion and 500 million riyals, the rehabilitation of the Al-Hawban road to the Al-Manshar area (Camel transport) at a value of 950 million riyals, and the asphalting, paving and paving of September 21 Street, which It connects the Al-Qarf Al-Arakm area to 60th Street at a cost of 400 million riyals, funded by the local authority.

As well as the rehabilitation and maintenance of the Taiz-Naqil al-Camel road (Dimnat Khadir-Al-Rahida) at a value of one billion and 500 million riyals, funded by the Road Maintenance Fund.

The road projects being implemented with funding from the local authority a project to rehabilitate and maintain roads in the districts of Maqbana, Mawiya, Shara’b al-Salam, and Shara’b al-Runa, at a value of more than 400 million riyals, and a project to rehabilitate and maintain the 30th Street leading to Al-Musaimeer Street at a value of 40 million riyals.

As well as the asphalting project for Martyr Al-Jaradi Street, worth 168 million riyals, the stone paving project for eight streets in the Mawiyah Junction neighborhoods, worth 186 million riyals, and the asphalt project for the ring street, Al-Hawban Roundabout, until the automated version, with a value of 160 million riyals.

The water and sanitation sector witnessing the implementation of projects to install a solar energy conversion pumping station to operate nine water wells with a capacity of 510 kilowatts, extend the water network in the Al-Qahfa area at a value of $450,000, and rehabilitate the well in the Petra area to enhance the capabilities of the water wells with modern pumps instead of dilapidated pumps, in addition to Providing it with four electric generators of different capacities.

The water projects include rehabilitating 12 wells, rehabilitating the sewage treatment plant at a value of $410,000, and extending sewage outputs from the road entrance to Al-Jahim station at a value of $771,000.

As for the education sector, there are 93 projects in various directorates of the governorate, which included building new classrooms and rehabilitating and renovating a number of schools, with a value amounting to more than one million dollars, funded by UNICEF, while the local authority’s contribution to these projects amounted to more than one hundred million riyals.

The health and population sector witnessed the launch of the first phase of the implementation of the general government hospital project, which was a dream of the people of the governorate to alleviate their suffering and provide integrated health care. The local authority’s contribution to the implementation of the first phase amounted to more than 600 million riyals, in addition to the restoration, maintenance and rehabilitation of a number of health units, and supply it with staff, medical equipment, supplies and medicines.

In the electricity sector, the local authority worked to enhance electrical energy capabilities and expand the network in the various neighborhoods of new Taiz, in addition to rehabilitating the public network and maintaining and restarting transformers.

This sector witnessed a tangible improvement in the increase in the number of subscribers and an increase in revenues that amounted during the past year to about one billion riyals.

With regard to the rural water sector, a number of projects implemented and rehabilitated in various districts worth 500 million riyals.

The agricultural development sector receives exceptional attention in response to the directives of the Leader of the Revolution and the Supreme Political Council to achieve self-sufficiency, as agricultural projects worth 876 million riyals were implemented with funding from the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Finance Unit, which included expanding the cultivation of basic agricultural crops (corn and wheat) and activating eight agricultural cooperative societies in Various directorates and providing tillers, harvesters and screens to associations, in addition to adopting a project to qualify a number of students in the agricultural field.

The Warzan agricultural nursery also rehabilitated at a value of 44 million riyals, with funding from the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, and a number of water barriers were implemented in various directorates.

The governorate witnessed the implementation of a networking project between the local authority and the Ministry of Local Administration as a first stage to develop and improve performance and simplify procedures, while steps continue to complete the second phase, which includes linking the governorate office to the directorates and executive offices.

In addition to implementing the fingerprint system project for governorate office employees, which would enhance reform efforts, Financial, administrative and functional discipline.

Regarding administrative reform, work underway to update the database of service unit employees, inventory the actual job force, activate the code of conduct and work ethics, and develop and simplify administrative procedures.

With regard to the cleaning and improvement sector, the capabilities of the Cleaning Fund were strengthened and provided with modern machinery and equipment to highlight the cultural and aesthetic face of the city of Taiz, repairing stalled equipment and returning it to service, implementing comprehensive cleaning campaigns in neighborhoods, streets and secondary cities, and taking care of the zoo.

During the coming period, Taiz will witness the implementation of strategic projects in various fields on the way to completing the infrastructure so that new Taiz becomes a model city.
