SANA'A April 28. 2024 (Saba) - A meeting in Al-Thawra District today,Sunday, headed by the Head of the Planning and Financial Development Committee in the capital’s municipality, Sharaf Al-Hadi, discussed the emergency plan to avoid flood damage in the district.
The meeting, which included the Undersecretary for Neighborhood Affairs, Qannaf Al-Marani, Assistant Undersecretary Naji Al-Qawsi, Director of the Directorate, Aqeel Al-Saqqaf, and directors of the executive offices concerned with the Directorate, reviewed the field preparations for implementing the emergency response plan at the level of each executive office.
The meeting directed the cleaning areas, along with neighborhood heads and community committees, to educate citizens about the dangers , harms of throwing waste into sewers and floodwater drainage channels, stressing the necessity of cooperating with emergency teams , reporting emergency and humanitarian cases.
The field trip was approved to inventory and evaluate readiness level of the flood drainage channels, the safety , presence of covers, to collect the results, and to provide the necessary equipment from the concerned authorities to implement emergency interventions, as well as cleaning and removing liquid waste from Sawad Hanash liquid.
The branch of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the directorate was tasked with transporting the damaged houses of citizens most exposed to damage, and the health and tourism offices were also tasked with preparing a health and shelter plan in the event of an emergency.
The head of the planning committee in Al-Amana locality, Al-Hadi, stressed the importance of the cooperation of the executive offices and concerned authorities within the framework of the emergency committee in the district, taking the necessary measures and measures to avoid any damage to the floods, and mobilizing efforts and capabilities to implement emergency and rapid interventions.
