GAZA April 28. 2024 (Saba) - Gaza Municipality confirmed, on Sunday, that the Zionist enemy forces are preventing municipal crews from reaching the waste dump in Juhr al-Dik area, east of the city.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, Gaza Municipality stated in a statement that about 100,000 tons of waste are collecting in the streets, causing an exacerbation of the health and environmental catastrophe in the city and the spread of diseases.
The municipality began implementing a partial waste collection campaign from some areas and streets to alleviate the health and environmental catastrophe that the city is experiencing.
The municipality said that within the campaign, which will last about 30 days, 30,000 tons of waste will be collected with the support of the Authority and 10,000 tons in cooperation with neighborhood committees, and that the collection work will focus on the areas with the most waste accumulation and population density.
In a previous statement, Gaza Municipality indicated that the rise in temperatures over the past two days has led to a worsening of health and environmental conditions in the city due to the accumulation of large amounts of waste in the streets, the severe shortage of water, and the leakage of sewage into the streets.
