SANA'A April 30. 2024 (Saba) - The main committee for assessing and evaluating the damages, crimes, and violations of aggression and siege has discussed its action plan and the activities of the statistics agency, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Affairs - Chairman of the Committee, Maj. Gen. Jalal al-Ruwishan.
The meeting discussed the ways to implement the committee's action plan to assess and evaluate the damages and effects of the aggression on Yemen.
The meeting, which was attended by Minister of Planning and Development of the caretaker government Abdulaziz al-Kumaim and head of the Central Bureau of Statistics Ahmed Ishaq, touched on the coordination mechanism between the relevant authorities to inventory and evaluate the damage and effects of aggression and the siege.
The meeting stressed the importance of the Central Bureau of Statistics through the main committee communicating with the relevant authorities to complete damage and loss inventory activities, provided that the project document and the requirements for presenting it to the government and the Supreme Political Council are presented.
The committee reviewed the progress of work on the project to inventory and evaluate the effects of the aggression and siege on Yemen, and the technical capabilities of the Central Statistics to complete the implementation of the comprehensive and sample inventory of direct and indirect damages and losses.
The meeting reviewed the role of the Central Bureau of Statistics in producing the interactive damage map and the report on assessing the effects of damage and losses, in accordance with international standards and national needs.
The committee listened to a presentation by Ishaq about models of the interactive digital services map to be reflected in the damage inventory project and to be used in producing the interactive map of damages.
The committee also reviewed a model of the System's activities on the technologies used in all field data, including the experience of the interactive digital services map and the MIX survey.
In the meeting, al-Ruwaishan stressed the importance of unifying efforts to ensure unification of information and linking the statistical and analytical aspect, which falls mainly on the responsibility of the Central Bureau of Statistics, and the legal and criminal aspect and violations related to war crimes and genocide, which fall within the scope of responsibility of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
He urged everyone to update the information immediately, given that the aggression is still ongoing, stressing the importance of opening new files and inventorying, monitoring and evaluating the American-British aggression against Yemen, to dissuade it from the Yemeni position on their support for the Palestinian people.
