WASHINGTON April 30. 2024 (Saba) - The US Central Command last night released preliminary images of the pier built on the shores of Gaza, through which equipment and food will be transported to the Gaza Strip, which is estimated to cost $320 million.
Palestinian media quoted the Central Command as saying on its X account: "Construction work is still underway.
The pier will be used by US forces and their partners to change humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip," she said, noting that the project area of about 270 dunums is dedicated to the operation and large-scale movement of goods into the area.
In addition, a remote-controlled hydraulic gate system is being built, allowing for operational and logistical flexibility, and extensive electrical works are being carried out to support the facility and accommodate marine and land craft.
The pier will cover an area of approximately 270 dunums.
The floating pier is being built by the Americans and will be connected to the shore, through which humanitarian aid will be transported.
The naval arm will secure the forces participating in the humanitarian assistance mission in the maritime domain.
