BOGOTA April 30. 2024 (Saba) - The Colombian army announced on Tuesday that at least nine people were killed when their military plane crashed in the north of the country.
Local media quoted the army in a statement as saying that the Mi-17 helicopter crashed near the town of Arenal del Sur in the province of Bolivar in northern Colombia.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro wrote on the social media platform XL.
"I regret the death of the nine soldiers in the military helicopter that was supposed to supply the troops in the fight against the Del Golfo gang in the south of Bolivar," he said.
