SANA'A April 30. 2024 (Saba) - Yemen's Ministry of Human Rights discussed on Tuesday the ministry's activities, tasks, and various functions.
Chaired by the HR minsiter Ali al-Dailami, a meeting addressed aspects related to implementing the plans, programs, tasks, and responsibilities entrusted to the ministry according to the annual plans submitted by all departments.
Al-Dailami condemned the crime committed by the aggression coalition's aircraft and its mercenaries targeting the village of al-Shajeen in Maqbana district in Taiz province with a rocket shell, resulting in the martyrdom of three women and two girls.
He indicated that a committee was formed by the ministry and civil society organizations to conduct an on-site investigation into the crime and report its findings next Saturday.
Furthermore, Minister al-Dailami emphasized that the Ministry of Human Rights is highly concerned about the situation of Yemeni citizens, without exception, regarding crimes and violations, condemning the exploitation of these crimes and violations by the aggression coalition and its affiliates.
He strongly denounced the continued targeting of populated areas in Taiz and Saa'da provinces and other areas with airstrikes, rocket shells, and artillery, criticizing the absence of a UN role, particularly the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, in condemning and holding accountable the perpetrators of crimes during nine years of aggression and blockade.
Al-Dailami considered these crimes as violations of international human rights laws, norms, and conventions, and war crimes added to the black record of the aggression coalition and its affiliates, emphasizing that the ministry will spare no effort to achieve justice for the victims and ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes do not escape punishment.
Minister al-Dailami also reviewed the performance track of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the aggression on Yemen, pointing out that its movements, meetings, and establishment of programs and activities with marginal entities in foreign hotels claiming to represent Yemen do not represent the Yemeni people or its citizens but rather represent blatant political bias, continuing its blackmail towards the national authorities in Sana'a.
He stated that such tracks and behaviors contributed to deepening the suffering of civilians, expressing regret for the suspicious performance of the commission and the absence of professionalism in its humanitarian tasks and activities, and its full compliance with the agenda and projects of the aggression coalition.
The Minister clarified that the Ministry of Human Rights will send an official message to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to review the most significant violations in the commission's work in Yemen and its failure to carry out its assigned tasks, instead focusing on political work and its preoccupation with visits to Riyadh hotels.
He also addressed the urgent and escalating humanitarian situation and the complex suffering in the health sector and livelihoods endured by citizens due to the continued aggression and blockade and the continued stubbornness of the aggression coalition in paying the salaries of state employees despite the UN's commitments to pay them when the functions of the Yemeni Central Bank were transferred to Aden.
He noted that the exacerbation of suffering was due to the policies and behaviors of international humanitarian organizations, especially regarding the suspension of humanitarian aid and depriving free areas of it, confirming that this comes in the context of continued blackmail and political exploitation of humanitarian aid.
Minister al-Dailami stressed the need for everyone to fulfill their role and responsibilities in activating efforts, especially concerning women, children, and various humanitarian cases.
He pointed out that Yemenis were not deterred by the continued aggression and blockade from supporting the brothers in Gaza with the honorable and principled stance towards the Palestinian cause, highlighting the interaction of the ministry's leaders and employees and their presence in gathering squares to support the Palestinian people.
