SANA'A May 02. 2024 (Saba) - The Ministry of Fisheries condemned the acts of aggression and violations committed by US warships against fishermen in Yemeni territorial waters.
The ministry denounced in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) the serious injury suffered by fisherman Hisham Abbas Qabasa, from Al-Khawkha district in Hodeidah governorate, as a result of being shot by one of the US warships in the Red Sea, while practicing his work in the sea west of the Great Hanish Island.
It considered that this act of aggression, to which the fisherman was subjected Qabasa, is a flagrant violation of human rights and international laws, and embodies the continued aggression and brutal crimes practiced by the American enemy, the forces of aggression and mercenaries against Yemeni fishermen, since the years of aggression against Yemen.
The Ministry of Fisheries demanded an immediate stop to these violations and held those responsible accountable. Expressing its full solidarity with the fisherman Hisham Abbas Qabasa and all Yemeni fishermen.
The statement reminded the world of the difficult conditions Yemeni fishermen suffer due to the war and blockade, and despite all this suffering, they continue to practice their honorable work, despite all difficulties.
The Ministry of Fisheries called on the international community and international human rights organizations to intervene urgently to stop these violations and protect Yemeni fishermen from any complete threats due to the militarization of Yemeni territorial waters. Denouncing the silence of the world when it sees injustice against these poor people in the Yemeni sea.
It warned of the consequences of the continuation of these violations against Yemeni territorial waters, marine life and fishermen.
It also stressed the need to respect the rights, safety and protection of Yemeni fishermen from any future attacks. It called on everyone to show solidarity with Yemeni fishermen and support their cause.
