GAZA May 05. 2024 (Saba) - The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) condemned, on Sunday, the decision of the Zionist enemy government to close the office of Al-Jazeera in the territories of 48 and Jerusalem, and considered it a continuation of the genocide against the Palestinian people.
According to Ma'an News Agency, the syndicate said in a press release that the decision to close the offices of Al-Jazeera is an indication of the intention of the enemy forces to continue committing massacres and genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank and the 48 territories, without witnesses and documentation.
She considered that this decision is not strange to the occupation, which killed 135 journalists, and destroyed and closed about 85 institutions and media offices in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, since the start of its aggression on the seventh of last October.
The syndicate held Netanyahu's government fully responsible for the life of any journalist, whether Palestinian, Arab or foreigner, working in Palestine.
It called on the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), UNESCO, the Human Rights Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations to intervene to provide protection for media institutions in Palestine in accordance with the international treaties and covenants approved by the United Nations.
The syndicate expressed its full solidarity with Al Jazeera and its readiness and its committees and crews to work to support colleagues in all ways and union and legal possibilities.
