GAZA May 07. 2024 (Saba) - The municipality of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday launched a distress appeal to the international community to intervene to stop Zionist crimes against civilians.
The municipality said in a statement, "The genocidal war waged by the occupation forces against our people continues at an escalating pace, as the occupation forces began since yesterday with a ground incursion and intensified barbaric shelling on civilian homes in the eastern neighborhoods of Rafah governorate, killing dozens and displaced citizens from those areas."
It added "In the face of this humanitarian catastrophe, which we warned about previously, we launch a final distress call to institutions and the international community to urgently intervene and stop the systematic crimes committed against civilians in Rafah and all the governorates of the Gaza Strip."
Rafah emphasized that the military operations in Rafah governorate, which is home to more than 1.4 million citizens, will result in heinous crimes that will remain a stain on the forehead of the world, which is content to watch the genocide without serious action to stop this aggression.
The closure and reoccupation of the Rafah crossing represents the cutting off of the only lifeline that feeds the entire population of the Gaza Strip, it added
The municipality stressed that the decision to displace the residents of Rafah's eastern neighborhoods to al-Mawasi area, which lacks the basics of life, is a blatant defiance of international laws and regulations and a collective punishment of civilians.
