TEHRAN May 09. 2024 (Saba) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed during a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres ways to end the war and genocide in Gaza.
According to Tasnim International News Agency, today that Amir Abdollahian, during his call with Guterres, praised the efforts of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to end the war and genocide practiced by the Israeli entity in Gaza and said: The Islamic Republic of Iran continues its efforts to restore security and stability in the region, especially stopping the crimes committed by the Israeli entity against the people of the Gaza Strip.
Amir-Abdollahian warned that if America, instead of pressuring Netanyahu to accept a ceasefire, accompanies this entity by committing new crimes in Rafah, the consequences will be dire for the protectors of the war.
The foreign minister reiterated his country's support for Hamas' response to the plan to stop the war, and informed Guterres of his consultations with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, as well as Sheikh Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas' political bureau.
He added that the Zionist entity, in continuation of its "policy of assassinations and genocide", is now trying to create another humanitarian catastrophe in the region by closing the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings and making international efforts to stop the war futile. The White House must choose between showing the will to pressure Israel and stop the war, or bringing the region into a new and different level of crisis and tension.
The Iranian Foreign Minister again strongly warned against the continuation of this dangerous approach of the Zionist entity, calling for increased pressure on the Zionist entity, especially by the United Nations.
Amir Abdollahian also called on the United Nations to play a greater role and hold a meeting with the focus of the Secretary-General of this organization and the influential countries in the Palestinian cause with the aim of helping Palestine.
For his part, Antonio Guterres praised the wise measures and positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in order to restore security and peace in the region and said that the United Nations from the beginning has been stressing its firm position to achieve a ceasefire and end the war quickly.
He added: "We will continue to exert pressure on Israel and actively consult with America and other influential countries to achieve a ceasefire and an immediate end to the war in Gaza and the region, especially the reopening of the Rafah crossing as soon as possible and other crossings that are the lifeline for the people of Gaza."
"Along with our ongoing consultation, I am in constant contact with Egypt, Qatar and Jordan, and I ask all parties to focus on stopping the war and bloodshed. Rest assured that we will continue seriously until the war stops and problems are resolved, and we also thank Iran on this path.
