50 UN experts call for decisive intel action to stop bloodshed in Gaza
[Thu, 30 May 2024 09:38:47 +0300]

GENEVA May 30. 2024 (Saba) - About 50 international experts in the field of human rights have expressed outrage at the Zionist enemy’s airstrikes on a camp housing displaced civilians in Tal al-Sultan in Rafah last Sunday night.

The Occupation airstrikes claimed the lives of at least 46 people, including 23 women, children, and the elderly, prompting calls for decisive international action to halt the bloodshed in Gaza.

The experts stated, “Horrific images of destruction, displacement, and death emerged from Rafah, including reports of infants being dismembered and people burned alive.

Reports from the ground suggest that the strikes were indiscriminate and disproportionate, with people trapped inside burning plastic tents, resulting in a devastating toll on victims.

The independent UN experts emphasized, "These brutal attacks constitute a blatant violation of international law and undermine human decency and our common humanity."

The UN experts condemned "The reckless targeting of sites known to shelter displaced Palestinians, including women, children, people with disabilities, and the elderly, seeking refuge, as a serious breach of the laws of war and a stark reminder of the urgent need for international action and accountability."

The independent experts called for an impartial international investigation into the attacks on the displaced camps in Rafah, stressing the importance of holding those responsible for these atrocities accountable. They also urged immediate sanctions and other measures by the international community to pressure Israel to adhere to international law.

It is worth noting that special rapporteurs and independent experts are appointed by the Human Rights Council in Geneva to study the human rights situation and submit reports to the Council.
