SANA'A June 29. 2024 (Saba) -The Minister of Electricity and Energy in the caretaker government, Dr. Muhammad Al-Bukhaiti, met on Saturday with the Vice President of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Muhammad Salah and the Director of the Union Muhammad Qafla.
The meeting discussed aspects related to the preparation of the introductory seminar on investment opportunities in the electricity and energy sector, which is scheduled to be organized by the Ministry of Electricity to introduce "BOT" contracts, in mid-July.
The meeting stressed the need to intensify efforts and strengthen the relationship between the public and private sectors to promote the energy sector, which is the cornerstone of development and the national economy.
At the meeting, Minister Al-Bukhaiti stressed the importance of involving the private sector in investing in the electricity and energy sector, in accordance with the law, reviewing the path taken by the ministry and its affiliated bodies to advance the energy sector, the first of which is the rehabilitation and maintenance of existing infrastructure, and the introduction of new generating stations in partnership with the private sector through the "bot" system.
He expressed hope that the private sector will participate in the seminar, which aims to clarify the inquiries and questions raised by investors and give them confidence, and to continue investing in the electricity and energy sector, calling on national capital to invest in this vital sector, and contribute to the renaissance of Yemen, and achieve economic development.
Dr. Al-Bukhaiti urged to take advantage of the advantages and facilities granted to investors in the electricity sector, whether in the field of generation or distribution, in translation of the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, the government and the relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, Vice President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce Salah and Director of the Federation Qafla stressed the importance of electricity and energy projects in reviving investment opportunities and advancing the national economy.
They stressed the need to review bot contracts completely to urge the private sector to invest in this area.
