SANA'A August 06. 2024 (Saba) -The General Authority of Antiquities and Museums in Sana'a has issued list No. 18 of the "Our Looted Antiquities" series, which includes antiquities that are looted and smuggled from Yemen.
The authority said in a statement that the new list is short in number, but displays artifacts, including those sold publicly in the Al-Hazm market in Jawf province in broad daylight.
It added: Among the pieces included in the list is a beautiful Yemeni archaeological sword on its handle inscribed in the Musnad script, and it is likely that the source of the sword is from Jawf, and it is offered for sale.
The Commission calls on the security services in Jawf and other governorates to prevent the trade in these and other antiquities and calls on them to tighten the security grip.
It also calls on citizens to cooperate with the Commission in preserving antiquities and archaeological sites from tampering and exhumation.
