SA'ADA August 20. 2024 (Saba) – Sa'ada Governor Mohammed Awad today inspected on Tuesday the ongoing construction of the Great Prophet Center for the Treatment and Surgery of Cancer Tumors.
The project, funded by the Cancer Control Fund, is currently 51% complete.
Accompanied by local officials and project stakeholders, including Deputy Governors Saleh Aqab and Mohammed al-Razami, Cancer Control Fund Director Hussein Al-Madani, and the National Foundation for Cancer Control’s Abdullah al-Hedawi, governor Awad emphasized the importance of adhering to the project’s technical and engineering standards and completing it on schedule.
Governor Awad highlighted the critical need for the Cancer Control Fund’s support to address the healthcare needs of patients in Sa'ada and surrounding areas, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict. He also noted that Sa'ada has long been deprived of essential services and development projects due to the conflict.
Al-Madani reassured that efforts would continue to meet the project’s goals, citing an increase in cancer cases necessitating a comprehensive treatment facility.
He emphasized the commitment to fulfilling the project’s contractual agreements.
The delegation also reviewed the services provided by the National Cancer Control Foundation's local branch and discussed the impact of conflict-related injuries on cancer prevalence in the region.
