MADRID - SABA: Barcelona extended its lead in the Spanish Football League by defeating Girona 4-1 on Sunday in the fifth round of league play.

Barcelona's goals came from Lamine Yamal in the 30th and 37th minutes, Dani Olmo in the 47th minute, and Pedro Gonzalez Lopez "Pedri" in the 64th minute. Girona's sole goal was scored by Cristian Stuani in the 80th minute.

With this win, Barcelona secured five consecutive victories, marking its best start since the 2017-2018 season when it won its first seven matches. The team now sits at the top of the standings with 15 points, four points ahead of defending champions Real Madrid, who beat Real Sociedad 2-0 yesterday. Girona remains in seventh place with seven points.
