Dhamar-Saba: Today, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, along with the Governor of Dhamar, Mohammed Nasser Al-Bukhaiti, recognized the team of the State Company for Potato Seed Production for their contributions towards the company's success in attaining self-sufficiency in potato seed production.

During the award ceremony, the minister confirmed the ministry's commitment, through the State Company for the Production of Potato Seeds, to meet all the requirements of the potato crop's manufacturing industries.

He highlighted the ministry's commitment to establishing export channels for potato seeds to global markets, particularly those in neighboring countries, with the aspiration of making this crop a leading product in Yemen.

He emphasized the significance of leveraging the successes in meeting the nation's demand for potato seeds, increasing crop production, utilizing surplus in manufacturing industries, and fostering domestic investment in this sector. He noted that Yemen imports processed potato products valued at approximately $8 million annually, a figure that could be surpassed by promoting local manufacturing industries.

He commended the company's workforce, including all agricultural engineers and technicians, for their significant contributions to attaining self-sufficiency in the most vital food crop following wheat. He also lauded the agricultural institutions, the local governance of the governorate, and other entities that supported the company in realizing this national milestone, marking a substantial triumph amidst the country's ongoing challenges.
