London - Saba: The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, called on Tuesday for the need for the UN Security Council to play its role in the escalation in Lebanon, as the Zionist enemy launched a wide aggression on Lebanese territory that resulted in hundreds of martyrs and a large number of wounded.
Borrell said in a post on his account on the "X" platform, as the major Zionist escalation against Lebanon entered its second day: "The death toll in the Zionist strikes on Lebanon is worrying."
He added: "The latest figures indicate that more than 500 martyrs have fallen, and among the victims are 50 children." He stressed the need for the UN Security Council to play its role in these developments.
The European official also stressed that there is an "urgent need to cut off the road leading to war." "Both sides must establish an immediate ceasefire," he said.
