The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Muallad, congratulated the national junior team on qualifying this evening for the AFC U-17 Championship finals from the heart of the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi.
The minister expressed his happiness with the qualification, which was achieved by the juniors with a positive result against their Vietnamese counterpart, the host of the group, with a 1-1 draw.
He pointed out that the juniors have accustomed Yemeni fans both at home and abroad to such good achievements.
Minister Al-Muallad clarified that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue to support the team and focus on it during the upcoming phase, which is considered the most important and will witness strong competitions, as all the qualified teams are strong and did not reach this stage easily.
He noted that the junior team held its training camp in the capital, Sana'a, and played a series of friendly matches against clubs in the capital, which allowed the technical staff to assess the players' capabilities and select them for the Asian qualifiers.
The little red team managed to achieve 7 points, with two victories: the first against Myanmar with a score of 6-1, and the second against Kyrgyzstan with a score of 3-2 and drew with the host team Vietnam 1-1 after the ninth group matches.
