The Palestinian flag was raised on Friday at the "Sao Jorge" Castle in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The Lisbon City Council voted by majority on a draft resolution submitted by representatives of the Portuguese Communist Party in solidarity with the Palestinian people, condemning all violations to which they are exposed, and demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, and implementing the rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with United Nations resolutions, which they have been deprived of for 75 years.
The council also stressed that the Palestinian issue is the basis for peace in the Middle East.
Following the adoption of the resolution, the Palestinian flag was raised at the "Sao Jorge" Castle, in a symbolic message expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.
It is worth noting that the "Sao Jorge" Castle has been classified as a national monument in Portugal since 1910, and is one of the important tourist attractions in the capital, Lisbon
