Baghdad - Saba:
The head of the Popular Mobilization Authority in Iraq, Faleh al-Fayyad, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, on Monday, to "increase the presence of the units and strengthen them on the fronts."
Al-Fayyad said in a statement: "The Popular Mobilization Forces do not operate outside Iraq and their forces have not entered Syria."
He added: "What is happening in Syria has direct repercussions on Iraqi national security." He warned "those who try to advance to Iraq."
For its part, the Media Directorate of the Popular Mobilization announced that "Iraq is pushing military reinforcements from the Popular Mobilization Forces and the army to the western border with Syria."
The deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament called for "activating the intelligence effort and communicating with Syria and brotherly and friendly countries to exchange information." He stressed the need to "carry out qualitative pre-emptive operations to prevent the infiltration of terrorist gangs".
He also stressed that "Iraq has the right to defend national security and peace from a legitimate point of view, by Iraqi and international law."
