Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has been elected as the interim president of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) for the year 2025.
Speaking about the 189th OPEC conference held via video on Wednesday, Paknejad said that various issues were discussed, the most important being Iran assuming the presidency of OPEC for the upcoming term in 2025.
He added that during this meeting, the Iraqi Oil Minister was also appointed as the vice president of OPEC.
Paknejad expressed his gratitude to the conference president and the ministers of the member countries for their confidence in electing the Iranian Oil Minister as the president of OPEC for 2025. He stated, "As the president of the OPEC conference in 2025, I will commit myself to utilizing all my abilities and doing my utmost to strengthen the spirit of cooperation, cohesion, solidarity, and progress within this organization."
