Hodeida governor Abdullah Atifi on Monday inspected the progress of the rehabilitation and development project for the Hodeida city Coast Corniche, which is being implemented by the Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance under the supervision of the Public Works Sector.
Atifi, along with Member of Parliament Abdo Radman, was briefed on the level of completion for the second phase of the Corniche Rehabilitation Project, which has a budget of 203 million and 764 thousand riyals, funded by Hodeida province support and development fund.
The second phase covers 295 meters. Additionally, they were updated on the completed work in the first phase of the project, which spans 536 meters and cost 593 million riyals with local funding.
Director of the Works Sector in the province Eng. Mohammed Muthanna provided an explanation of the specifications and works involved in rehabilitating and modernizing the coastal corniche, which serves as a popular tourist destination. He noted that the second phase of the project is 90 percent complete.
Governor Atifi commended the efforts made in implementing the project, emphasizing its importance as part of broader efforts to provide tourism services that meet the needs of visitors to the corniche, one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the governorate. He highlighted that the rehabilitation of the coastal corniche reflects a commitment to development projects, particularly those enhancing the seafront of Hodeida City.
Governor Atifi inspected the progress of the project to construct a fishing port gate in the city, aimed at facilitating and organizing the movement of fishermen and allowing large boats to enter the port. The project is designed to enhance the organization of mooring sites for boats.
Atifi emphasized the importance of such projects in expanding the entrance to the main gate of the port, which will enable larger fishing boats to access the port more easily. He praised the initiatives aimed at developing the fisheries sector in the region.
