Geneva - Saba:
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called on the United Nations on Monday to send an international investigation mission to investigate the serious crimes and violations to which Palestinian prisoners and detainees are exposed in Zionist prisons and detention centers.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, the Observatory confirmed, in a press release, that the prisons and detention centers run by the enemy army and the prison administration authorities have witnessed an unprecedented escalation in premeditated murder crimes since the Zionist genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
The Euro-Mediterranean Observatory stated that it had verified the martyrdom of five detainees from the Gaza Strip and the northern Gaza Strip governorates.
The Observatory indicated that with the death of the new detainees, the total number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees who were martyred in Zionist prisons and detention centers since October 7, 2023 has risen to more than 54 people, including 35 detainees from the Gaza Strip.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor added that testimonies from former detainees indicate that the actual number of victims may exceed double this figure.
The Observatory pointed out that the international community's blindness to the facts and documented reports of crimes of murder, torture, ill-treatment and rape in Zionist prisons and detention centers has provided the occupation army with a green light to continue committing these crimes and even escalate them.
The Observatory stressed that the crimes committed by the Zionist enemy army against Palestinian prisoners and detainees from the Gaza Strip constitute full-fledged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
It also stressed the need to support the work of the International Criminal Court to investigate these crimes and ensure their inclusion in the list of charges against Zionist officials before the court.
