Doha - Saba:
The idea of the presence of Arab or international forces inside the Gaza Strip or the Salah al-Din axis is not present in the ongoing negotiations in Cairo and Doha, Deputy Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine said late on Sunday.
"The Jihad Movement is an essential part of the discussions on stopping the aggression against our people in Gaza in the context of a prisoner swap deal," Dr. Muhammad al-Hindi added in a press statement to Al-Araby al-Jadeed newspaper.
"It is true that the Hamas movement is authorized to negotiate, but consultations with the movement are ongoing, and last week, extensive meetings were held with Hamas leaders in Cairo to discuss stopping the aggression and the exchange deal."
He noted that "what is happening in Gaza is a genocide committed by Israel with full American support and cover in an attempt to force displacement on our people in the Strip."
Regarding the Movement's vision for ending the war in light of the current contacts, Al-Hindi confirmed that "the completion of the exchange deal with Egyptian and Qatari mediation ends with the cessation of aggression and withdrawal from the Strip."
"Any continuation of aggression means that the confrontation will turn into a long-term war of attrition."
Regarding the "Jihad" vision for the post-war scene, Al-Hindi said: "The day after the cessation of aggression, there is a battle to provide relief to our people and rebuild."
"In this context, there was a path to forming a national consensus government to manage the West Bank and Gaza, and take on this task. In the face of the Palestinian Authority's rejection, Egypt proposed - with cover from the Riyadh Summit - the formation of a Gaza Support Committee, and responded to all the Authority's conditions in forming the committee and its legal and administrative reference to the Abu Mazen government and its formation under a decree from him. Until now, the Authority's approval to participate in it has not come."
He pointed out that "the support committee is made up of experts and not factions, and we do not participate in it, but we support this trend and the Egyptian proposal."
Al-Hindi expressed the tension in his movement's relationship with the PA in the occupied West Bank, against the backdrop of its fabricated aggression against the resistance in the Jenin camp in service of the enemy's agenda.
