New York - Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) late on Sunday warned of "approaching famine" in the Gaza Strip, whose residents suffer from food insecurity and lack of humanitarian aid, in light of the ongoing Zionist aggression for more than 14 months.
In a series of posts on its account on the "X" platform, the UNRWA said its teams are working to deliver aid to those in need, but stressed that it is "not enough at all."
The Agency added that the residents of Gaza are facing "severe food insecurity."
It called for "international cooperation and a ceasefire in order to provide life-saving aid in light of the approaching famine."
Famine has worsened in most areas of the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli blockade, especially in the northern governorate, following the persistence of genocide and starvation to force citizens to flee south.
On October 5, the Israeli occupation army invaded the northern Gaza Strip again, while reports confirm that Israel wants to occupy the area and turn it into a buffer zone after displacing them from it under the pressure of bloody bombing and preventing the entry of food, water and medicine.
