Sana'a - Saba:
A farmer in Manakha district has succeeded in cultivating the cumin crop, in an experiment that is the first in Sana'a province.
During a visit to the experimental field of cumin cultivation in Arjaz area, the director of the directorate, Munir al-Kabsi, along with the mobilization official Khaled al-Qasimi, inspected the area planted with cumin, which is estimated at eight lactations in the countryside of the Manakha district.
They listened to an explanation of the research work that preceded the planting, and preparation of the field that was planted with cumin, in a rare experiment that proved successful.
Al-Kabsi praised the role of the agricultural sector in the directorate in providing the necessary support to achieve the success of this experiment, within the framework of self-sufficiency programs, employing capabilities and investing national resources.
The deputy director of the agricultural sector, Khalid Al-Suwari, stressed his keenness to benefit from the fruitful results of this experiment and generalize it to the district and areas of the directorate.
He pointed out that the agricultural sector in the directorate is preparing a suitable area for the production of the crop in the same area, indicating that there is a research study to produce other crops such as cardamom, cloves, and ginger with high quality, which will contribute to raising the level of local production in order to reduce the size of the import bill from abroad.
Al-Suwari urged to expand the cultivation of other cash crops such as coffee and fruits of all kinds, in addition to expanding the cultivation of grains and legumes, and relying on directing all resources towards achieving self-sufficiency and sustainable self-development.
