Hebron - Saba:
The excavations carried out by Israel in the courtyards of the Ibrahimi Mosque are measures that come in the context of the occupier's ongoing attempts to threaten to strip the municipality of its powers in the area, and are part of a large-scale Israeli plan aimed at imposing control over the place and Judaizing it, the Hebron Municipality said on Tuesday.
These excavations and extensions represent a flagrant violation of the international law, as they are illegal and lack any objective or legal justification, the municipality added in a statement, noting that these actions pose a serious threat to the historical and religious structure of the Ibrahimi Mosque, as well as to its surroundings, which represent an integral part of the Palestinian cultural heritage.
It said these Israeli attacks come within a series of ongoing violations aimed to Judaize the Ibrahimi Mosque, and "these actions are to impose new facts on the ground and erase the Palestinian identity of the site."
The Hebron Municipality called on all local and international institutions to intervene immediately to stop these violations and protect the Ibrahimi Mosque, warning against the complications left by the continuation of these acts to the sacred site.
