Gaza - Saba:
The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, strongly condemned the Palestinian Authority's decision to stop broadcasting Al-Jazeera satellite channel.
The movement said in a statement last night: “The Palestinian Authority's decision to close the office of Al-Jazeera is a blatant violation of media freedom and a repressive behavior aimed at muzzling mouths.”
She added: “This comes within a series of arbitrary measures recently adopted by the authority, with the aim of restricting public rights and freedoms and strengthening the security grip on the Palestinian people.”
She emphasized that this decision is illegal and unjustified, and represents a direct insult to the profession of journalism and media at a critical stage that requires highlighting the crimes and violations committed by the Zionist occupation against our people and our land in Gaza and the West Bank.
She called on the Palestinian Authority to “immediately retract this decision.”
It also called on all human rights and media organizations “to stand firmly in the face of these repressive practices that contradict the values of freedom and democracy, and to ensure continued media coverage that contributes to exposing the occupation and supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.”
