Ibb - Saba:
A meeting held on Thursday in Ibb province focused on the development of a plan to inventory agricultural lands in Maitam basin area and evaluate local water resources.
The goal is to identify lands requiring irrigation through well water instead of sewage water, and to assess available water sources for sustainable agricultural use.
The meeting discussed the need for safe irrigation alternatives. This includes relying on well water and other viable sources instead of sewage water, which has been harmful to both the agricultural environment and public health.
The attendees emphasized the urgency of identifying agricultural lands that have been adversely affected by the use of sewage water and called for legal actions against those responsible.
A joint working team was formed to conduct a comprehensive survey of agricultural lands, assess local water resources, and provide periodic updates and detailed reports on the situation.
Al-Wurafi outlined that the field visit would focus on evaluating both groundwater and surface wells to ensure their sustainable use for the agricultural needs of the region.
He stressed the importance of swift collaboration among all relevant parties to implement the assessment and develop solutions to support farmers in the region.
