Dohuk - Saba:
Informed Iraqi source revealed today, Saturday, that a drone attacked a Turkish airstrip on the border with Iraq.
The source said in an interview with the Iraqi "Al-Maalouma" agency: "A small drone attacked for the first time a helicopter airstrip in a support base located near the Iraqi border strip." He pointed out that "the anti-aircraft guns shot it down at a distance before it reached more than one helicopter sitting on the ground."
He added: "The attack, which is the first of its kind, indicates an escalation in the pace and quality of targeting and the increasing resort to drones in carrying out direct strikes by Ankara's opponents."
He pointed out that "Ankara has begun deploying anti-drone systems in bases that include airstrips in northern Iraq as a precaution against any direct attacks."
It is noteworthy that the Turkish forces include dozens of military sites and barracks in northern Iraq, especially the Kurdistan Region.
