New York hosts rally calling for Palestinian doctor release

New York - Saba:

Demonstrators in New York City on Tuesday demanded the release of Palestinian doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, who was arrested by the Israeli army after raiding Kamal Odwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, late last December.

Protesters in solidarity with Palestine gathered last night in front of Tisch Hospital in New York, holding banners denouncing the Israeli genocide against the Palestinians, and others expressing their solidarity with Gaza and denouncing Israel's killing of children.

The demonstrators called for the immediate release of Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Odwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip.

It is worth noting that on December 28, 2024, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the occupation army had arrested Abu Safiya in the northern Gaza Governorate.

A day earlier, the occupation army stormed Kamal Odwan Hospital, set it on fire, and put it out of service, arresting more than 350 people who were inside, including its director, Hussam Abu Safiya, whose photo at the time, in his medical gown, being led by soldiers in handcuffs amidst the destruction, sparked a wave of Arab and international condemnation.

Since the start of the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the occupation army has been targeting the health sector in Gaza, bombing and besieging hospitals, threatening to evacuate them, and preventing the entry of medical supplies, especially in the northern areas of the Strip, which it invaded again on October 5.

With American support, "Israel" is committing genocide in Gaza, leaving about 155,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
