Gaza-Saba:
The Government Information Office in the Gaza Strip on Friday called on the international community, the United Nations, and various international organizations to support efforts to count the victims and recover thousands of bodies in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, the office expressed its deep concern about the results of the British study published in the journal "The Lancet", which indicates that the number of deaths (martyrs) resulting from violent injuries in the Gaza Strip between October 7, 2023, and June 30, 2024, reached 64,260 deaths, which is significantly more than the figure announced by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, which announces the number of martyrs who reach hospitals only, and this also reflects the scale of the disaster carried out by the Zionist enemy army against civilians and civilian sectors and facilities in the Gaza Strip.
It said that this gap is caused by the existing inability to register all the victims transported by the Zionist enemy in all governorates, amid the catastrophic humanitarian conditions and the restrictive standards adhered to by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
It pointed out that the continued killing, siege, targeting of medical personnel, destruction of hospitals, and preventing the work of civil defense teams hamper efforts to recover and bury thousands of bodies, which makes the statistics reflect a limited part of the bitter reality experienced by the decent Palestinian people.
It called on the international community, the United Nations, and various international institutions and organizations to provide the necessary support to help us register the real number of victims, which is significantly higher than what is announced, as the British study concluded.
It also called for work to enable rescue and civil defense teams to reach the areas affected by the Zionist aggression to recover the bodies and ensure their burial with dignity, in line with the divine religions and international humanitarian standards.
The international community and the Security Council called for effective and urgent action to stop the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip and to lift the unjust siege imposed on more than 2,444,000 civilians in the Gaza Strip, which has caused the largest humanitarian disaster in decades.
