Occupied Quds - Saba:
Zionist Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldktoeff on Sunday called for attracting one million Jews to settle in the occupied West Bank.
This came during a tour he made in the northern West Bank, the Palestinian Media Center said on Monday according to the Zionist website "Bahdrei Haredim", which specializes in news of religious Jews (Haredim).
The Zionist minister called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "bring a million Jews to Judea and Samaria" and to "exploit the current opportunity (the situation in Palestine and the Middle East) to expand settlement construction in the West Bank".
The statements of the Zionist minister come despite Palestinian, Arab and international warnings against Tel Aviv expanding its settlement activity in the West Bank, and its efforts to annex the area to its lands.
According to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission (governmental), "the number of settlers in the West Bank reached about 770,420 settlers by the end of 2024, distributed over 180 settlements and 256 settlement outposts, of which 138 are classified as pastoral and agricultural".
A settlement is one that is established with the approval of the Zionist government, while settlement outposts are established by settlers without the approval of the government.
The United Nations considers settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories illegal, and has been demanding for decades to stop them in vain, as they undermine the chances of resolving the conflict according to the principle of a two-state solution.
In recent months, the voices of ministers in the Zionist government, including its head, Benjamin Netanyahu, have been raised, speaking openly about the intention of the occupying entity to annex the West Bank, which has been occupied since 1967.
The fierce settlement attack on the West Bank comes at a time when the enemy, with American support, has been waging a war of genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has left more than 156,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, and an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.
In parallel with the genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Zionist enemy army has expanded its operations, and the settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which has resulted in a total of 847 Palestinians being killed and about 6,700 wounded since October 7, 2023, according to official Palestinian data.
